How's the weather??
Hope everyone out in California is enjoying a week filled with 100+ degree heat!
This is what it looks like here in Boulder, Colorado....
The picture is AWFUL but those are chunks of hail on my balcony.
There has been thunder and lightening for the past hour and now it is pouring!

University of Pacific, McGeorge School of Law
I was definitely surprised to see a box on my doorstep today since I wasn't expecting any packages. Our Career Development Office sent out a goody bag to students studying for the July Bar Exam. I am excited to enjoy a sweet treat but did they really think a Hershey's chocolate bar was going to make it all the way to Colorado??
Yes, you spend a few hundred thousand dollars
for a law degree and look what you get in return.

Adventures with Ian
I got an early morning text from my friend Ian that said he was borrowing a friend's car and was going to be driving through Boulder if I wanted join him on a "light hike around Brainard Lake." Ian and I had planned to go wine tasting later that afternoon and I thought that a hike before wine tasting sounded like a great idea. Well it definetly was not a LIGHT hike but it was fun! As we drove towards the lake, we realized that cars were no longer allowed to drive up close so we parked our car and started walking. The path towards Brainard Lake is usually a snowshoe path. Part of the trail was still covered in snow. The other part was swampy water that, at times, went up to my knees. To make it even better, as we turned away from the lake to walk the three miles back to the car, it started to POUR. Thunder, lightening and a ton of rain!
Chunk of snow. I was NOT dressed for snow. |
The blue skies didn't last long. This was a smaller lake at the beginning of our hike. |

Boulder Dushanbe Teahouse
The Boulder Teahouse was completely built by hand (no power tools) in Dushandbe, Tajikistan and then gifted to Boulder, CO. The teahouse survived being disassembled, crated up, sent halfway around the world and then rebuilt here in CO. I went today for afternoon tea and cannot wait to go again!

Royal Arch
I haven't been out all week so I made it a priority to get some fresh air today! I decided to hike the Royal Arch, which is one of the Chautauqua Park trails in Boulder. The start of the trail was 2.5 miles from my house, all of which was uphill. Needless to say, my legs were exhausted before I even got there. The Royal Arch is a 3.2 mile trail that reaches 6,915 feet in elevation. Such a beautiful hike!

Live Local
The one thing I love about Boulder is the "Love the Local" campaign. I have only been here a few weeks and I already know that I should never step foot in Home Depot or walk around town with a Starbucks. It's all about McGuckins Hardware, Laughing Goat Coffeehouse, The Kitchen restaurant, Alfalfas grocery store, etc. I probably do 1/2 of my grocery shopping each week at the Farmers Market and am so happy to see the COLORADO PROUD sticker on the items I buy. This week--chicken tamales, spicy salsa and sweet potato & kale babycakes.
